This has been an unusual year for all of us, and this is especially true for those who have lost a loved one. For many, loss was compounded by the fact that the passing happened in isolation or with extremely limited contact. Further, many have been unable to properly grieve because memorial services were curtailed, and there are fewer ways to experience mourning in fellowship.
Hospice of North Ottawa Community's annual Tree of Life is a community tradition that gives us a way to honor and demonstrate love for those we have lost, recently or long ago. We are excited to share that we have found a way, even in these uncertain times, to carry on this tradition. We have partnered with the City of Grand Haven to display an 18’ outdoor tree on the Brass River patio, located between the Chamber of Commerce and the Train Depot. The city will light the tree on November 20th and you can walk or drive by during the holiday season to view the tree. To celebrate lives well lived, your loved one’s name will be listed on a banner near the tree.
Since the tree is outdoors this year, if your gift includes a customized dove ornament, it will be mailed to you. Due to the recent uptick in COVID cases, we have eliminated the pick-up option and will mail those ornaments as well.
Your gift is a tangible tribute to those you have loved and lost. It also helps Hospice of North Ottawa Community provide the personal care, thoughtful services and deep comfort that are part of both living and dying well.
We, and those we serve, thank you for your gift. We wish you a holiday season filled with peace and beautiful memories.
